Imatge de la notícia 9. A fantastic tunnel

You are at the entrance of a tunnel built after the War of Spanish Succession. Unlike the tunnel preserved at the King's Bastion, this tunnel has two openings in the roof that you can see for yourself in person. One opening is narrow and rectangular. It served to cut off entry to enemy troops in case of an attack. The other opening is round and was used to shoot or throw small devices.

The explosion of the arsenal located at the Cantelmo Bastion already mentioned can be added to the other causes of the city surrendering: the lack of agreement in decision making, the useless waiting for reinforcements that never arrived or the difficulties of the siege itself, in which there was a lack of food, but especially water, making it difficult to defend a hill saturated with soldiers, horses and civilians. Keep in mind the disproportion of strength: the French and Spanish troops numbered about 20,000 men, which at times reached about 30,000. As for the Habsburg supporters, with British, Dutch, and Portuguese troops, the miquelets (Catalan militia) and the coronela of Lleida, the number was about 2,700
