The Romanesque door of the Annunciation owes its name to the two images once situated on either side of the door, that is, the Virgin Mary on the left and the archangel Gabriel on the right, images now conserved at the Museum of Lleida.

The door presents an abundance of decoration on the various arches, called archivolts, framing the door, and especially on the cornice, still supported by all its corbels, under which the angelic greeting made by the archangel Gabriel to Mary reads, in Latin: God save You, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with You, blessed are You among all women.

The most curious element, though, is the small door tucked between the door of the Annunciation and the rose window, although it might look like another window. This little door, in medieval times, would have connected the rooms of the Episcopal Palace to the cathedral through a walkway leading to a gallery inside the church, which unfortunately also no longer remains. For this reason, the door of the Annunciation was also known as the Bishop’s entrance.
